Samsung sends fire-proof boxes for Galaxy Note 7 returns

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has gone off the market in acrimonious circumstances and has left Samsung with a huge gap to fill at the top of the segment.

"Those who purchased the Note 7 will have the option to exchange their phone for another Samsung device or another smartphone of their choice", the company stated in a news release.

It added that it will make significant changes in its quality assurance processes.

Samsung is boosting its marketing and promotional efforts around other Galaxy-series smartphones to cushion the blow from the demise of the premium Note 7, which it finally abandoned this week after failing to resolve overheating problems which caused some of the phones to ignite. The Galaxy S7 Edge may probably be a worthy alternative to the Galaxy Note 7 since it almost has every feature apart from the S Pen.

Samsung said the packaging kits conform with U.S. requirements for shipping lithium-ion batteries or devices containing them that are subject to a recall.

The firm first announced a drastic downward revision of its forecast for operating profits between July to September, from an expected growth of 5.5 per cent year on year to a 29.63-per cent fall from the same month in 2015.
