Paddock also rented a hotel room in Las Vegas that corresponded with the "Life is Beautiful" music festival, officials said.

The FBI have been questioning Australian Marilou Danley about her boyfriend Stephen Paddock who was responsible for this week's shooting atrocity in Las Vegas.

Lombardo also said none of the cameras Paddock put up in the hotel room where he unleashed gunfire onto a concert crowd were recording.

The incident in Las Vegas is the bloodiest shooting in US history, and the motives for it remain unclear.

"It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone", said attorney Matthew Lombard as he read a statement by Danley.

Pictures emerged from the hotel room showing Paddock lying dead, surrounded by weapons and spent ammunition.

Paddock is believed to have killed himself before law-enforcement arrived at his suite.

Garzon told the New York Times that he realized the next day, after the massacre, that Paddock had been the one to report the music. "As you saw earlier this week the city conducts extensive public safety planning and training around major events, in close coordination with our law enforcement partners, to ensure public safety", he said.

Danley lived with Paddock in Mesquite, Nevada, a town of about 18,000 people located 120 km northeast of Las Vegas.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said it's unclear if Paddock was engaged in "pre-surveillance" of the event.

However, according to CBS, the rooms he requested were already booked.

"A machine gun is not going to blow up a tank of fuel", Mike Boyd, a Colorado-based aviation consultant, told the Review-Journal.

Danley, 62, returned to the United States Tuesday night from the Philippines, her home country, and was met by FBI agents at Los Angeles International Airport. Bump-stock is a legal device that enables a shooter to fire bullets rapidly, similar to an automatic rifle. He was a millionaire.
