South Korea's military is keeping its full combat readiness against North Korea's possible provocations as the North's soldiers are preparing for their monthslong winter training, the South's military said Monday.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency said Saturday that the presence of the three carriers was part of Washington's "sinister intention to maintain military hegemony in the region".

While in South Korea last week, Trump offered North Korea an opportunity to embrace diplomacy instead of continuing its pursuit of nuclear weapons capable of reaching the mainland U.S.

The North Korean ambassador accused the council of "turning a blind eye to the nuclear war exercises of the United States who is hell bent on bringing a catastrophic disaster to humanity". That, DiMaggio said, "has sent a clear signal to the North Koreans: Why should they enter a deal with us, if we're not going to stick with it?"

"Please do not send them back". In 1984, a Soviet tourist sprinted across the demarcation line from North Korea in a bid to defect, prompting a gun battle that killed and wounded several soldiers from both sides.

There was no immediate comment on the incident from North Korea.

He was evacuated to a private hospital by a UN helicopter, the official added, saying the solider had regained consciousness but declining to comment on whether his injuries were life-threatening.

In 2013, US citizen Matthew Miller was arrested when he arrived in Pyongyang and reportedly tore up his US passport, demanding asylum in North Korea. South Korean troops didn't fire at the North, he said.

In their 15-point statement, the leaders committed to a "strong determination to enhance cooperation in food security by encouraging countries in the region to take effective measures".

The United States has said that all options, including military, are on the table to deal with North Korea, although its preference is for a diplomatic solution.

"The large scale nuclear war exercises and blackmails. make one conclude that the option we have taken was the right one and we should go along the way to the last", wrote Ja.

Looking ahead, Korean Air, a global leading cargo carrier, said it expects revenue in the current quarter to improve backed by higher overseas demand for Korean information and technology products such as mobile phones and semiconductors.

Saturday's meeting came about two months after the North staged its sixth and most powerful nuclear test so far on Sept. 3.

Two American soldiers also were killed in the DMZ by ax-wielding North Korean soldiers in a 1976 brawl over an attempt to trim a poplar tree.
