Beijing has proposed that the North suspend missile and nuclear tests in exchange for a suspension of US-South Korean military exercises, a suggestion Washington has repeatedly rejected. North Korea also said the "ceaseless large-scale war games" by the U.S. and South Korea are "creating a situation that a nuclear war may break out any moment".

After the missile launch, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned North Korea it would be "utterly destroyed" if it went to war with America, and Trump tweeted that "additional major sanctions will be imposed" on the reclusive nation. "Now the time has come", Chung Young-tae, Director of the Military Research Institute of Dongyang University, told AsiaToday in a telephone interview on Monday. The nuclear power state that North Korea demands is a status given only to the United States, Britain, France, China, and Russia, which have built a nuclear explosive device before January 1967.

The article does not mention possible attacks by North Korea or any other country. Trump is fond of calling Un "Little Rocket Man", a tongue-in-cheek reference to the communist dictator's ongoing quest to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of striking the United States.

Authorities concluded that radiation levels remained normal in the four provinces where tests were done, including Jilin.

North Korea hates such displays of American military might at close range and typically uses strong language to condemn them as invasion rehearsals. South Korea has deployed 90 fighter jets, including its F-15 and FA-50 fighters. Punggye-ri, naval shipyards and the Yongbyon uranium research facility are among the sites monitored by analysts. It is not detailed enough to see people's faces.

"We hope all relevant parties can maintain calm and restraint and take steps to alleviate tensions and not provoke each other", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said in a statement.

China's environmental protection ministry performed eight days of emergency monitoring following the September blast, which the North claimed was the successful detonation of a hydrogen bomb.

"We currently have no intent to initiate departures for military dependents, whether on a voluntary or mandatory basis, and no intent to modify the policy authorizing military dependents to accompany military members being stationed in South Korea", spokesman Navy Lt. Cmdr. Lewis's team at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies has created a 3D image of Punggye-ri's underground bunkers with help from a Japanese government-funded sensor on a NASA satellite. Images taken days after the sixth nuclear explosion up to November showed a pickup in activity at an as-yet unused tunnel complex, which could be associated with new test preparations.
