Despite the disguise, we can easily see the front bumper will have generous air intakes and there will be a more aggressive grille design as would be appropriate for an AMG model, even if it is going to be the entry-level offering.

The bulk of the recall involves 8,700 units of the GLE, GLS, S-Class, Maybach S600 and several AMG models (model year 2017 ad 2018).

The first recall which will affect about 8700 units of the Mercedes GLE, GLS and S-Class models will be to fix the latch problem on the left rear passenger doors of these vehicles.

Mercedes' Porsche 911 rival, the Mercedes-AMG GT, will be getting a mild power boost as part of the upcoming refresh, along with subtle cosmetic changes.

Finally, 10 units of the AMG GT fitted with the optional AMG Performance Seats will need to either have the software for the passenger airbags updated or the passenger seat cushion replaced.

MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the vacuum hose, as necessary, free of charge. Armed with roughly 300bhp, the new model will also have to go up against the VW Golf R, another AWD hot hatch.

All recall campaigns will start this month.
