Did Oprah Winfrey Say She Brought Young Women to Harvey Weinstein's House?

  • Seal apologizes for Instagram post that appeared to call Oprah Winfrey out for hypocrisy

Furthermore, the unapologetic and unconcerned tone struck in this meme stands in stark contrast to the comments that we know Winfrey actually made about the accusation levied at Weinstein.

Yesterday the singer posted a meme that had originated elsewhere, which depicts two images: one showing Winfrey kissing Weinstein on the cheek, and another with the pop star Rita Ora sat in between Weinstein and Winfrey.

British singer Seal scaled down his attack on Oprah Winfrey after claiming that the global celeb was aware of rumours surrounding Harvey Weinstein and did nothing.

The first indication that this is a fictional quote is the fact that the meme includes any information about where or when Winfrey purportedly said it. Weinstein's alleged misdeeds and various reactions elicited from celebrities and politicians were extensively covered in the months following the New York Times bombshell report that he had paid off several of his accusers, yet we were unable to find this quote in any credible publication. "What I re-posted was commentary on the hypocritcal and double standard nature and behaviour of Hollywood".

Oprah Winfrey brushed off accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, saying "this is just how it is" for people who want to get ahead in the media industry.

"Stacy Dash, keep my name out of your mouth", he said. "Do not retweet, requote anything I have said in order to reinforce your self-hating agenda. You steal from the post office, you go to jail and hashtag real talk for a second - wall know what would happen to any one of those power abusers if they looked like me".

Singer Seal and Delta Goodrem arrive at Australian TV's night of nights, the Logie Awards, in 2012. Again, this was not an attack against Oprah.

Spielberg also believes Winfrey, whom he says is "crackerjack on the money on women's issues", could be an "ambassador of empathy".

He asked those coming forward to continue to do so, and had a message for everyone else.
